Day 01

After being pick up at the airport or your hotel in south coast , you will start your journey to Bentota . You will do the boat safari in Maduganga . Madu river is a shallow water body in south-west Sri Lanka, which enters the sea at Balapitiya.The Buddhist Amarapura Nikaya sect had its first upasampada (higher ordination ceremony) on a fleet of boats anchored upon it in 1803. The Buddhist Kothduwa temple is situated on an isolated island in the lake.Together with the smaller Randombe Lake, to which it is connected by two narrow channels, it forms the Madu Ganga wetland. Its estuary and the many mangrove islets on it constitute a complex coastal wetland ecosystem. In has high ecological, biological and aesthetic significance, being home to 303 species of plants belonging to 95 families and to 248 species of vertebrate animals. It might be one of the last remaining tracts of pristine mangrove forests in Sri Lanka.The inhabitants of its islets produce peeled cinnamon and cinnamon oil.

Afternoon you will visit the turtle hatchery in Kosgoda. The turtles are one of the rare species found in the world. As far as turtles concerned, they are the top on the endangered list all around the world. There are all together seven turtle species have listed up to now, such as green turtle, hawks bill turtle, Oliver twist turtle, leather back turtle, kemp's ridly, and flat back. But five of these are presenting in srilanka coastal area. Now a days so many turtle hatcheries are mushroomingalong the southern coastal belt. They are doing a great favor to increase the capacity of this giants descending from Jurassic period.

The turtles get together in certain areas of the ocean annually to mate. After mating the female turtles come to the sea shore to lay their eggs. They are supposed to lay eggs after they attain the age of about 30 years. They are said to lay their eggs on the sea shore at night. It is said that these turtles prefer to lay their eggs on the same beach they were born. They are supposed to lay about 120 eggs at a time.Their eggs are white and they are similar to Ping-Pong balls. The eggs are kept damp by the female turtle by emitting a juice to cover the eggs. Afterlaying eggs these turtles go back to the ocean. They keep no connection with the eggs or their new born kids. The eggs are hatched with the help of the warm sand heated by the rays of the sun.After a hatching of nearly 60 days thesetiny ones are making their own way right direct to the deep blue sea. This time they may get the dangerous attractions from birds, crabs and fish. Few of them will survive for breed their posterity. Humans are the main threaten for them. To avoid these circumstances social services have started to protect them in hatcheries.

Day 02

Around 06.00 am leave for Mirissa harbor for whale watching .

Whale watching in Mirissa has becomes one of greatest location spotting Blue, spam and Killer whales in the world. Misira is the best city spotting more blue whale watching and possibility of whale watching with my Ceylon adventures more than 90%. Out of the largest mammals on earth Sri Lanka is the place where you can observe the largest land mammal the Elephant and the largest sea mammal the Whale.

Sri Lanka whale observers gather to watch an awesome display of power & beauty of one of the largest, intelligent, aquatic mammals on this earth. Southern Sri Lanka one of the best place in the world for seeing Blue whales.

They breathe air through blowhole(s) into lungs (unlike fish who breathe using gills). Whales have sleek, streamlined bodies that move easily through the water. Whales feed on smallfish. The biggest whale is the blue whale, which grows to be about 94 feet (29 m) long - the height of a 9-story building. These enormous animals eat about 4 tons of tiny krill each day, obtained by filter feeding through baleen. Adult blue whales have no predators except man. The smallest whale is the dwarf sperm whale which as an adult is only 8.5 feet (2.6 m) long.
